I cannot express my amazement and wonder with the runway show of Jum Nakao! He is truly a magnificent genius.. Not only are his creations absolutely out of this world but make sure you watch the video till the end ( there is a huge twist !! ).
I think we need more creative thinkers like him, since he stretches the boundaries of fashion, and it’s place as a valid, real artistic force in this world.

So some time ago, not so long in the past I started what is now the best 3 hours of my week! Officially it is known as Experimental Fashion Technique class, unofficially it should be titled best prof for the most creative and hands down best class in the world! Not only are we given unique assignments (such as the triangle top) but we are given free rein over what we design, and the more creative the better!!!! Since I’ve only started this class, I only have the two garments below to show for my work (but do not worry as there will be more, many more!)
.. and for those interested, the theory for these assignments comes from the beloved Pattern Magic books (1 and 2)! They are like heaven for fashion designers, and creative minds alike. Even those in other walks of life can take away some of the wonderful ideas presented in these books (though mind you, probably not directly).
My Dark Night skirt, full of tunnels, pockets and flowers! In black 100% silk Organza, with internal wiring.
My Garden Triangle Jacket. This jackets design is based on a triangle, folded it makes a perfect one. It is constructed out of heavy 100% wool felt, with textured flowers. It may be worn inside or out. It has a large hood and it’s closure is a single wooden button.

This guy is awesome! He’s funny, witty and open minded! He focuses on mistakes, not perfection, and creating something that no one has seen or thought of before!! Plus you know he’s a good designer since he’s earned a CFDA win!! His TED video is something else though, it really describes his way of working, and really living his life. I think we can all learn something from his genius! 
I cannot express how much I love this mascara!! It does everything I want for my lashes – length, volume and va-va-voom, best of all no clumps at all! Zero, nada, nechevo! And probably one of the best features of this mascara is that you don’t need more then a few layers!
Oh and this is totally coming from someone whose tried every mascara on the market – having short, blonde eyelashes is in no at all attractive so mascara is kind of an every day necessity!!
The funniest thing about this mascara is that it wasn’t even me who discovered it! After I had introduced my babushka to the pleasures of shopping at holt renfew (you know unlimited choice in makeup brands and well the prospect of a Russian sales lady sealed the deal for my for her) she kept coming to me with new face creams, lotions, removers, you name she probably tried it once before.. It wasn’t until she nearly sang about this mascara that I finally tuned in.. And boy was she right – this stuff is awesome!!
So if haven’t sold u on at least trying this mascara, maybe the sexy thing that is Megan fox can!! After she is the one getting paid to wear and love this mascara!!

Kidrobot is one of the coolest thing I’ve come upon! It is an adult, modern badass toy!! What Kidrobot is a producer and designer of artist created toys! There are quite a few different toys, the most popular being Munny and Dunny. Dunny toys are artist commissioned (these are some famous artists which created Dunny, featured in the MOMA)!
Whereas Munny’s are sold for DYI designs!! (these are some of the more basic ones featured in the MOMA)
Oh and this is the one I got for my self to design (it’s still in the early days.. )
Kidrobot also has some really awesome clothing pieces and other little zipper accessories and watches!
I am beyond obsessed with coated (with I think is wax) jeans!! I was in the store today and hunting for a cool pair of jeans.. I didn’t want a typical old pair of blue jeans, instead I wanted something more fresh and different!! That’s when I came upon these cool coated jeans! They are a bit shiny, and sort of resemble leather pants (except they won’t make you as sweaty as leather pants!!). You can even get reversible coated jeans, which is one of the smartest design!!
Coated jeans offer an edgier and slightly dressier alternative to regular jeans and are definitely cooler then just plain black jeans (which I live in as it is!!)
Plus I think they’re waterproof, ha who could as for more??
Fashion is obsessed with making videos these days, even trying out some short films for commercials!! and they are all chic and comedic, which is a nice contrast to the serious, dark and sexual typical fashion commercials!! About time fashion does something funn!! These are some of my favs!

Ahhh this store is the bomb!! Amazing $10 jeans! and 100% cashmere sweaters for $50!!!! I fell in love with the store the min I lined up for the opening of the flagship location in new york!! – The line up was organized, and they were handing out poncho’s because it was drizzling! But the reallly amazing thing happened when we walked in, it was like setting into – well let me show you
Fashion heaven – I think so!! The variety of colors and specializations of products in this store also blew me away.. They had everything, and I mean everything – in every color!! Plus most items had special thermal, heat control and in the cold north – this is key to survival!

Konichiwa Bitches!!
This watch is so freaking cool!! But then again it is from the MET (so it sorta has to be legit!) And it’s totally an ‘artsy’ watch – the background of it is composed of a 6 step color wheel with all the primary and secondary colors and then the top layer is a second 6 step color wheel but it’s transparent and functions as a second hand so you get new compositions of incredible and cool color every second!! For an art student life can’t get better!! hehe
I know my color theory prof will totally slobber alll over this watch!! Cuz really art is all about color – or so Parson’s would like to make us believe it is!
Mhh, how amazing is it to have curly hair – you only have to wash it pretty much every single day so that it looks legit, and you have to use a multitude of hair products on it ALL the time so it doesn’t become a raging poof ball!! Not to mention that the curls are often extremely hard to control, and often look like you just got out of bed even if you haven’t even been home all day
!! But there is finally a real solution and it comes in the form of Ouidad !!
So Ouidad focus on us – curly haired girls!! They’ve developed every product for every situation and scenario we could ever find ourselves in (like standing in the rain, uhh just imagine the poodle that’s about to pop up on your head!! Hehe)
But seriously, since starting to use Ouidad shampoo and conditioner I barely need to put anything else into my hair and my curls look totally tight and perfect, and my hair doesn’t feel at all crunchy or hard!! So that mostly why I’m obsessed with Ouidad hair products, but there’s also the little fact that they are not over priced AND that they do more than give you great curls like volume, and cleansing ( I use the Playcurl line) Which is like what I have been looking for in a shampoo mostly my whole life!! So you curly-haired girls see if Ouidad can satisfy all your hairs need

These tote bags are probably the coolest things I HAVE ever seen, touched or some near!! They are literally wicked! They are like architectural masterpieces!!
What I would do to get my hands on one of these!! Hmm.. they first caught my eye as I explored Soho (with an incredible group of girls!! 
) and ever since then I just can’t get them out of my mind!! The strange geometrical structure, and how they each seem to look completely different and unique.
This is all part of the new direction fashion seems to be going in – geometrical shapes, astronomical colors, technological feel! Hooray for fashion because as we are moving forward fashion needs to be also..
So okay, fine this is completely understated, who wouldn’t be obsessed with this amazing city! But really it’s more than just the city – more than lady liberty and Times Square. It’s THE fashion that I am obsessed with. Fine so this is the capital of the world for fashion (sorry London, Milan and Tokyo!) but the sole greatest thing about this place is that you can literally wear whatever the hell you want! You want to be crazy and rock a studded chiffon printed dress, then go right ahead. Seriously, wear what, when and where you want to! But hold on, I didn’t mention the best part no one will be like “Uh, is she REALLY wearing that?!” but instead they will be like “ahhh, better get a pic for my fashion class prof before she gets off the subway!!” Because literally being unique and different is appreciated and treasured here. People want the different and new, not the typical and everyday! And no joke, my first assignment is to photograph as many unique (and inspiring) dressed people as possible!! Could assignments get any better? Seriously!
But why aren’t more cities like this, why do they focus on certain trends and styles, why do most places favour the typical and common. Isn’t the point of life to stand out? Be different?
So next time you are getting ready for a big hurrah don’t do what you always do, do something different, and who knows – maybe you’ll be Marc Jacob’s next inspiration!
Ever worn something inside out on purpose? I never did, until I did! It all started with a quick trip to the fabric store where I fell in love with a beautiful neon/fading fabric. I quickly scooped it up, and walked out of the store feeling like a million bucks! Fast forward a couple of hours, and to my horror I discovered what the fabric REALLY looked like!!! Bright pinks mixed with browns and black (yuck! No thank-you!) But all was not lost, I figured hey, why not use the ‘wrong’ side of the fabric to create something fab, and no one will ever know that I am totally wearing it inside out (that is unless I blog about it – duh)
So then, I though why not try other things inside out, and upside down! And so my obsession was born. Wearing things opposite of how they were made to be worn!! Different – check! Fab- check! Zero chance of someone wearing the exact same thing – check. Oh yah and lots of attention!! Perfect!
So say hello to jeans shorts worn inside out (thanks J), skirts worn upside down and shirts buttoned up the wrong way!!
But now I want you opinion which side looks better?

So I love chips, especially salt and vinegar chips! I can eat them 24/7!! But they are sooooo freaking unhealthy! One bag has like 200+ calories which is a big no-no during bikini season! So this is why my new obsession – PopChips, they pack all the flavor but not the calorie punch! Yay!! A bag of chip for aprox 120 calories – get outta here! And one that taste just like the real deal!! You bet that this is my new obsession!
These are so yummy and good for you that I can’t stop munching on them!! They are popped instead of fried (genius, why didn’t they do this earlier!!) and that’s why they have all the yummy flavor of the potatoes, and none of of the icky saturated fats, plus not being fried in oil helps them reduce the calorie and fat content!! mmmmhhh. Perfection!! I think this is THE greatest chip ever invented – healthy and delicious!!
Now if only they could work on this healthy (low cal) beer without compromising on the alcohol content!!
This is incredible, I’d kill for one of these today!! Is there really a better way to cool down then to spray on a cooling bracelet – I think not!

I going bananas for this soundtrack, it is soo good that I haven’t taken it off reply for the last two days, which means that from 9-5 it has NOT turned off!! Literally!! The soundtrack is a compilation of remixed songs put together for movie Sucker Punch (sigh – if only the movie itself could live up to the glory of the music, and action scenes!!) And the remixes are amazing – mostly taking place during the action scene so you bet that they are hardcore, fast and techno feel. They remind me of early Infected Mushroom songs like “deeply disturbed” (my other love duh!!)

I am even more obsessed with it when I get to take an old pair of jeans and make it into something short, fresh and cute!! Don’t you love it when you can recycle something old into something new – not only is it technically good for the planet but better yet you get to save money!! (yay)
So what you need – A pair of old jeans (if you already have jean shorts, or want to tie dye full length jeans – no problem, use them instead), either bleach or a dye remover (I prefer dye remover since it is less harsh on the fabric, less toxic) and some elastic bands.
Take the jeans and cut the pant legs off the jeans, make sure you first decide how short you want your shorts to be. After you have done this, roll up your shorts length wise and wrap around with an elastic band. Then roll them up as much as you can horizontally, and again tighten with elastics.
Bleach – mix 1 part bleach with 10 parts cold water, dye remover – mix package as instructed (usually with hot water). Place the rolled up shorts in the solution and wait. After about 30 min (less for bleach, check after 10 min..) remove and wash. If you are using bleach soak in vinegar to stop the process.
And Viola! Finito!!

My version!! No shape circular bag!! Made all by myself!!
I am going round and round for circles, especially circular bags! You know the round pouchy things, and so eloquently hang right off your shoulder and seem to fit just about everything under the moon. No real structure, no real shape but soft, ruffled and a little bit messy! Not only are they cute, but they are also perfect if you pair them together with all the structured rigid, and boxy shapes that are everywhere this summer and will stick around heading into fall. In my eyes there is nothing more amazing then two opposites that fit perfectly together (you know, Yin and Yang) – and this is exactly what this is!
